Leadership

What it is: Any time you step up to guide, support or positively influence others - whether that is through a leadership position, like a captaincy or SRC role, a club role, team lead, training or mentoring others.

Why it matters: Leadership shows initiative, accountability, and the ability to work with others. These are powerful traits employers, universities, and future collaborators all all looking for. Even informal leadership (like helping younger students, peer support leadership, or leading a group project) counts.

Opportunities and ideas:

  • SRC Role

  • House Captain

  • Leading a School Club (STEM, Chess etc.)

  • Organising a fundraising event

  • Coaching a junior sports team

  • Running lunch time activities or peer mentoring

  • School open day speaker or tour guide

  • Representing the school in youth forums or leadership camps
